Emulsion Breakers to Help Maintain Sales Contract Specifications and Aid in Oil & Gas Production
Multi-Chem offers emulsion breakers for both water-in-oil (standard) and oil-in-water (reverse) emulsions, helping you improve oil-water separations while increasing your oil and gas production rates.
Benefits
- Well defined oil and water interface-- greatly improves vessel efficiency
- Better process control and throughput
- Less “slop oil” reprocessing and disposal
- Smaller or fewer separation units
- Assist in cold separation, reducing fuel consumption
- Reduce high viscosity of emulsions caused by interfacial stiffness
- Used downhole, reduces pressure and wear on pumps while increasing production rates
Emulsions are caused when oil and water are forced to mix in the presence of an emulsion stabilizing surfactant. Emulsifying agents are inherent in produced oil and gas condensate, as well as many chemical treatments, such as film forming corrosion inhibitors. These emulsion stabilizing surfactants collect at the boundary or interface between the oil and water and make a strong, resilient film that resists breaking. This film prevents the dispersed droplets from coalescing into larger droplets and falling out of the mixture.
To determine which emulsion breakers are best suited for an application,Multi-Chem’s chemical experts can perform an extensive, on-site evaluation of your system, including testing of the emulsions with fresh produced fluids, and can tailor customized chemicals that meet your production challenges.
