Multi-Chem Secures Future of San Angelo Symphony's Patriotic July 3rd Concert
July 3, 2009
San Angelo, TX

The San Angelo Symphony is proud to announce Multi-Chem as the 2009 title sponsor of its annual July 3rd concert.

The celebration now known as "The San Angelo Symphony July 3rd Pops Concert Presented by Multi-Chem” (formerly known as The Town & Country July Pops Concert), celebrates its 22nd year by bringing together approximately 35,000 people from surrounding local communities and from as far away as Houston, Dallas and Austin.

“We are honored to be in a position to help secure the continuation of such an important community event. San Angelo has been instrumental in our success and we’re proud to call it home,” says Jorge Velarde, Vice-President & CFO of Multi-Chem and Board Member of The San Angelo Symphony.

The free concert, the first event held at the new Bill Aylor Memorial RiverStage in 1987 continues to give the community an inspirational, patriotic way to unite and to celebrate love of country as well as show appreciation to those who have served or are currently serving in the military.

For 60 years, the San Angelo Symphony (SAS) has been an oasis of cultural activity in a thirteen-county region of West Texas known as the Concho Valley. The SAS offers a subscription series of 4 Classical concerts as well as 2 Pops concerts, and presents an International young artist competition, now celebrating its 50th anniversary, for those studying piano or stringed instruments. The July 3rd Pops is just one of the free community events that the SAS offers. In addition, the SAS presents a pair of youth concerts and a variety of educational programs, at no cost to participants.
Helping to Rebuild After a Storm
01/06/2008
Canadian, TX USA

This past June 26, 2008 was one that the residents of Canadian, Texas will remember for some time. A local reporter, Laurie Ezzell Brown,  was making a 22 mile trek into Roberts County. Seventy mile-per-hour winds and blinding rains greeted her that night.  Laurie was just glad to have made it home when she pulled into her drive and saw limbs from elm trees on her lawn. The next morning you could see everyone surveying the damage to their neighborhoods and planning the clean up. Laurie said,  "A crew of 10 Multi-Chem employees armed with chainsaws and bobtail trucks, were hard at work early Thursday morning clearing broken limbs from the Library and Courthouse lawns.  They continued throughout the day, driving through Canadian’s hardest-hit residential areas and removing the storm’s debris."  Laurie called the Multi-Chem Office the next day and asked about what inspired their labor. While waiting for the local manager to take her call the recorded message, "Industry-proven, Values-driven" caught her attention. Thursday morning, Multi-Chem employees Brent Archer, Dennis Karr, Jack Sims, Clint Steward, Jeremy Lemons, Jeremy Givens, Paul Gonzales, Mark Lesperance, Daynne Klinekole and Corey Fechter gave credence to those words, and to the ones that followed: "going the extra mile." They were not the only ones who lent helping hands, but their welcome display of corporate conscientiousness was so refreshing, I thought it worth noting. Thanks to Multi-Chem,  and to all who pitched in to restore order and remind us what "community" really means. (Article courtesy of Laurie Brown and The Canadian Record)

Multi-Chem Volunteers for MDA
01/08/2008
New Iberia, LA

Each year, approximately eighty to one hundred campers with neuromuscular diseases, ages 6-21, load onto buses and travel from Shreveport, Lafayette, Monroe and Alexandria areas to Camp Bethany, Louisiana to experience “the best week of the year.” Knowledgeable camp staff, medical personnel and campers with their own one-on-one volunteers come together and help to provide both fun and personal care.
Every camper is assigned a personal counselor who attends to that camper and gives the camper personal attention. The job requires physical and emotional demands and because of the one-on-one counselor-to-camper ratio, the campers often develop close relationships with their counselors.  Because of this fact, returning campers often request the same counselor they had the previous summer.
At MDA Camp, barriers simply do not exist. MDA Camp is a wonderful place where children with neuromuscular diseases are able to focus on their abilities when participating in a wide range of activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, baseball, wheelchair soccer, horseback riding, arts and crafts and talent shows. MDA Camp is a place where strangers become friends, and it provides campers and volunteers with a week to laugh, to smile, to achieve, to renew old friendships and to begin new ones.
This year Multi-Chem had two employees from the New Iberia, Louisiana office volunteer for MDA summer camp. Scott Olivier and Taylor Mahaffey have attended this camp for the past 10 years. This year Taylor Mahaffey was awarded the junior staff volunteer of the year award for his dedication through out the year and during the week of summer camp. Scott and Taylor have also volunteered at the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.

Multi-Chem Sponsors the First Annual Costumes, Colleagues and Concoctions
October 30, 2008
Society for Underwater Technology

On October 30th, Multi-Chem participated as a platinum sponsor for a Halloween themed networking event in Houston.  Multi-Chem and SUT created the party as a way to foster an atmosphere where vendors, clients, and employees throughout the oil and gas industry could come together in a networking atmosphere but relax and enjoy a social setting.  Guests were asked to participate in a costume contest where awards were given for the scariest, funniest, and best overall costume.

The event was an enormous success.  We had an incredible turn out from professionals in the Houston area.  We had attendees from over 15 operating companies in the Gulf of Mexico.  Guests left the event with the realization that Multi-Chem is a new player in the area and that they will be hearing much more from us in the future.

Thanks to everyone who worked with us on the event.  We couldn't have succeeded without you.

Employees adopt a family
01/12/2008
New Iberia, LA

New Iberia’s generosity during the holidays brought a Merry Christmas to a local family.

In keeping with the Mission, Vision and Values, New Iberia decided to participate in an Adopt-A-Family program for Christmas.  Employees were asked to contribute what they could to buy food and gifts for their adopted family.  The New Iberia Multi-Chem family contributed over $600 for the cause.

The family was a single mother with two children.  Everything from baseball gloves to art supplies was given.  Warm clothes and winter coats were also purchased for them.

The generosity of our employees was overwhelming. It makes us all proud to work with such selfless individuals.

This is just one more example of Multi-Chem employees giving from the heart.

Thank you New Iberia!
